Presidents Report

I hope everyone is looking forward to another outstanding Golf season. We have been very fortunate this winter and have actually had some good golf days to enjoy. I hope you have had a chance to see some of the changes going on out on the course that will enhance the true nature of Cliffside.
I want to thank the outgoing Board Members Ron Toler, Drew Dunkle, and Brett Epling. These gentlemen spent a lot of their time over the last several years to improve Cliffside and make it a great place to play golf. Thanks for all you did. Our new board members are Rick Van Gundy, Mike Burke, and Ron Wright. They are taking a very active role in the operations of the course. I also want to thank Joe Liberatore for all of his efforts to improve the course and serve on the board. Joe had to resign due to work obligations but will continue to serve on the grounds committee and assist us as needed. Debby Barcus has agreed to finish Joe’s term and I would like to welcome Debby to the board. I would also like to thank Willis Funeral Home for sponsoring this month’s newsletter.

General Manager’s Report

Thankfully winter has remained mild allowing many to enjoy some off season golf. Although sustained low temperatures are still a possibility during the next 5-7 weeks, the 2006 season is just around the corner. Work on the course has not slowed as we systematically move through parts of the course to improve drainage, repair construction scars, remove trees and brush, update irrigation, and complete scheduled maintenance on the equipment. Work on the driving range was delayed while we waited for utilities to be located and marked, but we should get back on schedule over the next 2-3 weeks. It is our intention to have a full service range in operation by the spring of 2007.
The tournament/outing schedule for ’06 will be included in an upcoming newsletter. However, please be aware that the schedule is subject to change during the season and updated versions can be found at http://www.cliffsidegolf.com. Anyone interested in scheduling a tournament/outing should contact the Proshop at 740-446-4653.
Our handicap provider, the Ohio Golf Association, has changed software and will not longer be using the scoretrac system. The new software which was designed and issued by the United States Golf Association has been installed at our facility and will be in operation as soon as the active handicap season begins. Questions regarding operation of the new system should be directed to the proshop staff. Local numbers for those who used the service in the past have been imported and will remain unchanged.
Poker night has been met with enthusiasm and gives our members the chance to enjoy the club during the winter months. The Games of Skill, which were placed in the clubhouse late in the season have been removed for the winter, but will return with the warm weather. Hopefully, that will be sooner than later and we will see everyone soon.
